I always intended to see the movie "The secret of Roan Inish" and I was rather charmed by a review I read of it some years ago, when it first came out. Today I chased down the review and learned that Roger Ebert, who wrote it, died a couple of years ago. I would have liked to have let him know how much I enjoyed his writing.

I guess the lesson here is don't wait to say something nice, especially in this day and age, where we can instantly communicate with each other.

I still haven't seen The Secret of Roan Inish, but when I do I'll be thinking of Roger Ebert's words ""The Secret of Roan Inish" is a film for children and teenagers like Fiona, who can envision changing their family's fate. It is also for adults, of course, except for those who think they do not want to see a film about anything so preposterous as a seal-woman, and who will get what they deserve."

I also rather enjoyed his review of Whale Rider, a film that everyone should see.
