I've talked about how I feel about "Don't use [thing] ever" as a writing tip before, so instead of rambling on about that for the umpteenth time, have this.
don't use adverbs, don't use was, don't use omniscient there are no good omniscient tales, don't use multiple pov's, don't use/ past or present tense. And yet mysteriously the most popular books of all time often do one or all of those things.
