I have word from Bronny and Tim - message follows.
Brocon Up!
From 12:00pm 31st of December - 14:00 2nd of January.
4 Grafham Road, Brookdale.
Since time immemorial Brocon has been Perth’s Premier invite only Boardgaming weekend. Bring snacks, your boardgames, your friendly attitude and your game face.
Mix and mingle with others and have a great time. Sleeping space is provided, bring your own sleeping equipment. If you are ill or cannot make it, we are sorry and hope you have a great new year. Main meals provided, but if you wish to volunteer for a meal across this time period, please let us know and we are most accommodating.
Message ends.
Please RSVP to bronwynhillside@hotmail.com and jmim00@bigpond.com
I encourage you to show your appreciation for the untiring effort Tim and Bronwyn go to to put on these events - whether it's relieving them of a burden of putting on a meal to feed us all, or a gift card from Games World, or the movies, Tactics, Bunnings or Bookshops or just taking them out to dinner sometime. And of course the ever popular washing up or dishwasher loading, or seeing what else you can do during the event to help which is probably the most appreciated of all.

Mr Hopkins, from the British Museum turns up at Harry the Fixers about 30 minutes after the messenger. He has a question for Mr Fixer.
Title
A note arrives upstairs for Mr Hopkins, the messenger didn't wait.
Dear Mr Hopkins
Esteemed comrade, I have had a visitation by our most royal fishmonger. The poor thing is worried about the state of things and feels that our city is once again under threat. In our discussion I heard our most august fishmonger has sensed that a pillar has fallen, one of three i believe. The most royal personage senses that if the second falls we will be for a very difficult time.
I have also spoken to some four legged acquaintances, who were shocked and dismayed upon learning of the sad fate of Raymond Whitehoof.
They confirmed that he was indeed a sage. Also it seems the second pillar appears to reside in Oxford at Balliol.
He too is a quadruped and he must be protected at all costs. I have left for Oxford post haste and will start this protection immediately whether or not this fellow wants it or not.
I hope you will find your way to Oxford with whatever resources you can bring to bear.
Regards Lord Fingolfin

Starting to think about what we know already. This is a detailed session and I encourage you to put your thoughts down so we can keep a bit of a track. I'll start.
During a fire, a dead centaur has been found in an abandoned warehouse on the Rope Walk. The fire appears to have been deliberately lit to destroy any evidence.
He seem to have been named Raymond Whitehoof.
He was a chess partner of Herbert the corner druid.
He was convivial, didn't drink to excess (centaurs that drink generally do drink a lot) and never got beyond the warm glow stage when he did have more than usual.
He wore white. Centaurs don't wear white unless they're sages - an exceptional centaur shows intelligence and leadership from very young. They're revered by other centaurs. Chiron was the most famous, and heroes went to him for education.

Well that was dodgy. Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue just telephoned me. They said that some one using my call sign just tried to log that they were leaving Hillarys with two people on board, but wouldn't say who they were, what vessel they were, or where they were going.
The operator thought it sounded odd, and looked up my details - noted I was a single person kayak and gave me a ring. 1.) What kind of dodgy life uses some one else's call sign? 2.) Why would you bother, as WVSR kindly accepts log ins even if you don't have a membership and will rescue you whether you're a member or not.
and 3.) If you don't tell them where you're going how the heck can they rescue you if you do fail to log out?
WVSR thought I should be aware someone is masquerading as me.
Weirdest identity theft ever.
