Aaaand now for something completely wireless saw the tireless crew from Flash in the Can coming together once more in honour, apparently of the mythical foley artist Siggy. Every performance they choose a Fringe performer as one of the famous Siggy's many illegitimate children to make the noises. Every performance they pick audience suggestions from a hat for main character, dark secret, starting place and a product sponsor. They then stand behind the microphones just like in the old times. Even the keyboardist participates in the show verbally. A member of the audience is then prevailed upon to give a title.
This performance went as well as can be expected, given the character name Bailey, of Beta Centauri (that was mine!) opening in Siona's Kitchen, sponsored by Meow Mix. The title was The Beard From Your Face.
While not as scintillating as the previous performances I've seen, it was still very funny, especially with them being upstaged briefly by the guest foley artist, a very demure lass from The Improvised Sherlock Holmes.
What the performers might consider an average show is still highly entertaining and funny to the audience and the quips were running fast and thick.
At half time the keyboardist composes a ditty about a couple in the audience which is amusing and clever. As the lady admitted being attracted to her husband by his tight butt, we were all very impressed when the artist worked the words gluteus maximus into the song and made it rhyme .
There are several more shows scheduled, and they're always good. Sometimes they're absolutely brilliant. This wasn't one of them, but I'd still recommend it. Even at their worst they're still better than most.
7/10 worthwhile and listening to The Goon Show for the first time on the Sid and Nancy Scale.
