What are the first 3 games on top of your to-be-played pile of shame?
What are the first 3 games on top of your to-be-played pile of shame?
If you have no pile of shame, what games are you seeing come up from contributors to this thread that you'd play in a hot second?
Only game in my pile of shame currently is Tiny Epic Western. Though I do have some armies for Shadespire and some missions for Arkham Horror LCG I haven’t played with yet.
City of Remnants -- I originally bought this game because it has a mishmash of different mechanics including deck building. I really want to play this, but its complexity would limit the type of players I would play with and tend to exclude some players I regularly play with.
Battleship Galaxies -- I wanted a decent space combat game that is played on a hex grid. This is the one I found. It's just that I often game with more than one other player, so this and often other 2-player games don't get played often.
Techno Bowl -- This is another 2-player game I rarely get a chance to play. I actually played part of a game, but yet to play a complete game with anyone. Just ran out of time before I had to do something else the times I played it.
Just Zhanguo and The Cousin's War. The latter hasn't had a proper play yet, just a demo and a bit of fiddling.
Zhanguo looks really good, but I've not raised the family's interest in it at all. I'm a bit worried about how it's going to go down, because the reviews I've seen suggest that the first play is needed to get your head around how you play and win. That first play can sometimes be a deal breaker.
Been hosting a Euro & Ameritrash club that's met weekly since El Grande was the new hotness but I generally play at least once before I buy and I replay games I love more than chase the new hotness so I have no "pile of shame." But I don't think anyone should feel any shame about the games they buy/collect. You'll either get to it eventually or you'll learn and mend your ways. Or likely someone else will get and enjoy your copy down the road!
That said, working my way down the BGG top hundred, I still haven't sampled Great Western Trail, The 7th Continent, or Gaia Project. Maybe a hit to my boardgame geek cred, but still no shame.
I haven't played my Champions of Midgard expansions yet. But they just arrived today! ;)
High Frontier. I have the players but my mind needs to be in the right place before I tackle this game/simulation. I find most Sierra Madre games exhausting.
Maria. I desperately want to play this.
Millennium Blades. Can't believe I've not played this yet. Shameful.
No pile of shame here, so I'll go with games that I would love to try, but aren't likely to find a home with my game group, meaning I likely won't get the chance.
The closest thing I have to a pile of shame is the fact that I haven't been able to get enough adults together for a real time play of Captain Sonar.
On my would play in a hot second list... Gloomhaven? I guess I'm really looking forward to the new Star Realms expansion that's coming out "in June"...
Wow... I would play 7th Continent the second it came in if I ordered it.
ReplyDeleteMine are:
Pulsar 2849
Robinson Crusoe
Catacombs
I have only two games I own but haven’t played and I believe they are two stinkers:
ReplyDeleteShafausa and World War Z
