A heads up - we have been lured to the Truffle festival this year down in Manjimup, so we will not be gaming on the 22nd of June.

  1. About half a km past the Wine & Truffle Co is a good vegie seller.
You're not too far from Cambray Cheese in Nannup either.
Come back past Ha-Ve cheese factory and pick up some Natural Savory and St Dukes Swiss.

  2. Oh and don't get suckered in by the signs in Donnybrook pointing to the Cider Factory. It hasn't been open for several years. But Solafruit is just past Donnybrook on the left.
The Cidery in Bridgetown has nice cider but it can be hard to get a table there as it sometimes gets crowded..
The 23rd June may be the Farmers Market in Manjimup. Well worth the visit.

  3. Cool! The main events are going to be happening around Fonty's Pool at the Truffle Kerfuffle, not far away, and we will be visiting a truffle farm (Australian Truffle Traders) on the Friday afternoon before the Festival starts. We'd like to get down to Walpole as Mum hasn't been there since the 60's.

  4. We enjoyed our visit to Solafruit when we went on our big south trip, I still get their newsletters. :-) Cider/booze not stopping points for us unless there's something else of interest there, it's only me that'd drink it, and I am only a very occassional drinker.

  5. Oh well, if you're going that far you're almost at Denmark and you may as well come back via Albany highway. I'm sure you know places in Denmark and I can suggest places in Albany and Mount Barker.

  6. Yeah, we'd like to get to Denmark. I don't think we'll get as far as Albany but who knows. We're going to be based at Karri Valley for the duration so some of these are gonna be day, half day trips.

  7. Also we made the mistake of thinking we could see water birds at the Lake Muir RAMSAR site. There is a very nice walkway and viewing platform out over the dry plain. The nearest water is several kilometers away and you can't even get to within glimpsing through the binoculars distance of it.
