Two postcards have arrived from Bunbury! One yesterday, one today.

Two postcards have arrived from Bunbury! One yesterday, one today.

The experiment is working. Both have come through the post just fine, the one with the sticker has caught some franking scrapes and ink ~on the front shiny side~ which doesn't seem to have anything to do with the card or its thickness.

It just happens to postcards, I've seen it on others.

  1. There is a third, posted this morning, using a 4x6 index card as backing. AP recommends a minimum of 140 gsm for postcards so I would not have been surprised if one or more of the test cards had failed to arrive or been chewed by the machines. At the moment I am tending towards the stickers as they have a nicer writing surface than the pre-printed photo papers and are less fiddly than the index cards. They come from here: australiapostcards.com.au - Australia Postcards - Postcard Back Stickers

I've purchased 7 fountain pens of late, 4 Chinese cheapies of which the cheapest, a Domain Lion 305, cost only $6 and writes like a pen of 20 times the price.

Did I mention we are heading off to Queensland in June? We'll end up out Hughenden way in old fossil country.

  2. I have some of those pens, I was pleasantly surprised. Porcupine Gorge looks interesting, are you heading that way?

  3. I plan to, but it may depend on any gravel road conditions in the hire car lease. We'll probably base in Hughenden and day trip as far as Winton and Richmond.
