Having just experienced a cracked waterpipe deep underground, I can highly recommend www.hydrosonic.com.au -  Peter Ruddle quickly found the pipe, dug it up (through a tricky maze of big tree roots) and replaced it, all with good humour and professionalism.

He has a very interesting array of detectorers to help him in his work.

We're very impressed! So if you're in Perth, and your water meter is counting when there's no water turned on give Peter a ring.

  1. Did you find it before or after the $2k water bill? :D (based on a true story, someone else we know found out the hard way that they had a cracked underground pipe recently)

  2. After - the water authority read the meter, said "that can't be right with this house's usual consumption" and let us know we might have a problem. Fortunately as it was a non-detectable leak (except that the meter was going round and round) we can get the plumber to fill in a form to give to the water corp and they'll adjust our bill.
