Leece is a Western Australian artist living in Perth, on Whadjuk Nyoongar boodjar. She likes drawing animals and is interested in sf&f, nature and kayaking, Me-Moving and reading and lots of other stuff!
It all seems doable :) I'd like to try enlarging the pattern a bit, though I'm not sure if I'm skilled enough to get it right. Trial and error I guess! I'd really like to somehow come up with my own design to sell, rather than using someone elses. You mentioned using metallic thread, was that for the whole unicorn, the hair or does the yellow represent gold? There's a couple of options with the hair, I can do it chained and thick as I have on mine, or I can do it single stranded, like in this one: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/4a/13/b5/4a13b56d7a4211b1d35c076b51fbd913.jpg (I love that one, by the way. I've made cushions with the same african flower pattern) I'll be able to show you the progress as I make it so you can tell me if you're happy with aspects of it. :)
It's a piece to have fun with experimenting and finding out what works and what doesn't, and to develop your already considerable skills.
No urgency. Single stranded looks lovely doesn't it?! Yes, please. Oh, I forgot the metallic thread, um, I said that because of the coolness value really. Is there metallic purple thread? All metallic would look pretty cool. Silver for the mane and tail, beard and tasselly bits, gold for the horn and hoofs perhaps. But if purple metallic isn't available, perhaps just gold for the horn and hooves.
I think it would look awesome in all metallic :) I've found some online, it's probably cheaper for me to just buy it that way, than waste fuel travelling round looking for it.
They use prepaid post bags to send stuff, so I might ask them how many balls will fit in a bag so I get value for my postage dollars. I'll have one of each, thanks! ;)
I need to make a decision on what colours of metallic thread to buy for your unicorn. I'm financially limited at the moment, or I'd just buy them all! The colours I'm thinking of are Purple Light Gold(I think it's the nicer gold, but up to you) Silver Charcoal Could you please have another look and confirm if that is what you'd like? :)
Sounds good, glad I asked about the gold :) I'll order them now.
As for payment, that's not required until after I've made it. Bank deposit is probably easiest as I need to set up a fresh paypal account, having lost all the details of the old one I had.
No worries, will give you the details when payment is needed. Have ordered the yarn (and am probably more excited about it than I should be!), so should be able to start on it soon. :)
I've been working on enlarging/designing the pattern for this. Decided to save this picture instead of having to find this post over and over again. Had a giggle at the name of the file "jonicorn" :) I'm testing it in another colour to test my design, as I didn't want to waste the purple on a trial. Have almost finished the head, just the ears to do and some of the mane. Will show you how it looks when I get the head finished to see what you think of it.
It's supposed to be aqua, looked quite green on the website, but more blue/turquoise in hand..magenta horn and hooves, silver mane and tail. Looks quite cute. the rest should be quite simple to enlarge - head was a little fiddly, so I'm pleased it worked :)

Purple, yes, Silver yes, charcoal, yes.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Old Gold, it is a richer, warmer colour.
How do you want to handle payment? I can do paypal, or you could let me know your bank account details - or I can write you a cheque.

ReplyDeleteI'm excited too! I'll be getting you to do one in reversed colours once
ReplyDeleteyou're happy with this one.
Oooh that's awesome, thank you! More money for more yarn! ;) I don't think I can control my excitement lol

Awesome. What colour are you trialling it in?

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteGive me another hour or so, I might have to do some mothering in a minute lol :) The white dot in the eye is meant to be a twinkle yes?
ReplyDeleteYou could leave it black, yep, seeing as it's metallic, it'll twinkle by itself.
ReplyDeleteHey no rush, don't neglect the kids!
