Apart from that, the fairy terns are significantly smaller. Marsh terns and Bridled Terns are about, and others so it isn't a failsafe, but pretty much.

ReplyDeleteThey are really tiny little things for terns and are quite fluttery, not to mention vocal in flight. Quite musical for a seabird!

ReplyDeleteWell these are definitely fairy terns. You get Crested and the unmistakeable Caspian terns on the Swan too.
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn't have a bright orange crayon for a beak and it doesn't sport a Mohawk then it must be a fairy. Or something like that.
