Hey it's pretty cold.
Well, for us. It was about 7degrees Celsius last night, but it's not like Canberra or the Antarctic.
A cautious peek out of the back door revealed the thyme, basil and nasturtiums all covered with dew. I don't think the chooks were though. We were up earlier today because it's Wednesday and Rob catches the bus, leaving me the car so I can set up the disc golf course before the people arrive to play.
WABA is on this Saturday at Mt Claremont and now it starts at 13:00 and goes to 22:00. We'll be bringing Ticket to Ride: Europe, some Ogre, Cornish Smuggler, Winter's Tale and Last Night on Earth, amongst others.
Sunday we plan to go for a bit of a paddle, weather permitting.
I've cooked a couple of interesting experiments for dinner the past couple of nights. Last night's dinner was turnip, carrot, onion, saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, honey, pepper and beef, accompanied by rice and broccoli. I put the veggies with the spices and the cup of steeped saffron water into the thermomix first, let it cook, then blowtorched the cubed meat and added it, dropping the cooking temperature. It turned out very nicely.
The night before I put on two cups of soaked red kidney beans and let them cook whilst steaming the turnips, parsnips, carrots on top of the thermomix.
I added some onions and some stock, and parsley, thyme and white wine vinegar, for a bit then added the steamed veggies.
I had a loaf of fig and fennel rustic gf bread from Strange Grains which went very well with it, nice and hot
