Those that wish to participate in the Adventures of the expatriot Ellyon in Magical London will need to create themselves a character.

You're all royal exiles adventurers. You're all over 20.

You may choose your beautiful butterfly wing colours with the limitation that they're based on real butterflies. Please post a photo of the butterfly you're based on below, or go the whole hog and draw yourself wings and all.

You owe Mr Fixer a great debt you feel you can never repay, but you'll do your best, and to a lesser extent to Mr Orthrus and Matt's centaur character whose name I don't recall just at the moment Andre'. While Mr Fixer is honest in his desire to see you returned safely back to the Black Forrest, you understand that it might take him quite some while to achieve that. And, maybe it might be best to wait awhile until Viscount Lukesilva dies or everyone forgets about the insults and blows that flew that night you were all thrown out left to preserve the peace. Mr Fixer has arranged appropriate quarters in his roof for you all.

You are a royal Elyllon (30 points) and have suffered considerable pain, indignity and mental stress as a result of being a captive of the evil Lord Carrick.

Through Mr Fixer's efforts you've undergone some rehabilitation and have developed a keen interest in the big city in which you find yourself.

You have 100 points to spend on your character with the usual 40 worth of disadvantages. There may be inappropriate disadvantages, these will be discussed and reviewed by your kindly GM as needed.

  1. And what about the uneasy peace with Lady Anishka? Inquiring minds, etc.

  2. It'll be an ongoing thing - not all Ellyllons presences will be mandatory, adventurers might just wing off for some adventure at a whim. (if we've got low numbers for example). This subset is a little more about fun and light relief although there will be definitely serious bits. If people have characters ready I could run it tomorrow. Mr Fixer, Andre and Mr Orthrus still have something to sort out, I recall.

  3. But I think it's probably Traveller tomorrow. Whenever people want, I'm easy.

  4. Garry Winterton are you going to look in a cupboard to give your poor dog a bone?

    ReplyDelete
  5. is the 40 point disadvantage in addition to the 70 required for being an monarch

  6. I'm hit I'm going dowwwwwwwwnnnnnnn argh! Garry Winterton I'm getting the bug zapper.

  7. But I'm not going to have time to do character creation in time for tomorrow.

  8. Was the No for the name, or for the question about the disadvantages?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is HP the same thing as HT? I think my rule book is too old.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Checks the 4e pdf lite she has. OK... Not same

    ReplyDelete
  11. HP is very close to Health. You can buy additional hit points on top of your health.
No was for the name, Ellyllon Hubbard, no Dianetics fluttering things.

  12. Garry who has done far too much pun damage already should be very proud of that Monarch pun.

  13. HP seems to be strength based according to the 4e lite rules I have. What are we using?

  14. 3e - ST ~- Fatigue
    HT ~- Hit Points

Where ~- is a desperate attempt at an approximation mark in raw ASCII.

  15. I was going to pick Wanderer but that is the same as the Monarch.

  16. Very swish, Stephen Gunnell! Ulysses unless I miss my guess - hah also something of a wanderer!

Monarchs can travel thousands of kilometres in their natural migration, hence the name. They're a very strong flier. Climate change is kind of stuffing them up in their migration, getting too cold at one end, and too hot at the other. :-( They do okay here though.

  17. Cough cough. What's that bright light? Perhaps ... It would be prudent to scrap the acolyte/cleric and think of something else.

  18. Rob Masters but the info on the race seems to be 4e based

    ReplyDelete
  19. Nope, 3rd edition rules, and 3rd edition version of the race.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's directly copied from Gurps Fantasy Folk, Second Edition, if that helps confuse things even more?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our/Rob's copy of fantasy folk is 3e. The ht penalty is harsh. My mentally unstable honest, truthful, compulsively vowing spell caster needs to go back into its cocoon and re-gestate its choices.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Even though it says Second Edition on the cover, does that mean it's the second edition of FF, but is for 3E Gurps in general? Is that how it works?

    ReplyDelete
  23. oops I meant 2e we've had for so long I forget.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Alicia Smith you've got it right! 2nd edition Fantasy Folk for GURPS 3rd edition.

  25. Have a Bex, a cup of tea and a lie down. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'll also be creating one in case anyone else wants to run one in the future. Their wings will be based on the dead leaf butterfly species.

  27. Is that 100 pts after the Royal Elyllon pack or 70 pts after the RE pack?

    ReplyDelete
  28. 100 points free and clear to spend, you have Royal Ellyllon free.

    ReplyDelete
  29. More questions: How does Fragile work? Do Elyllon ride birds? Could someone look up flint knapping for me please? What strengths are needed for Elyllon weapons?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'll post some photos of the Ellyon pages.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Fragile takes double damage from crushing attacks. Bird riding, hmmmm. I will think about that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Having read the full entry now I can't see any justification for it. Stone Knapping is MA (found my Compedium 1 pdf).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Can't find justification for Fragile or Bird Riding Stephen Gunnell?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Given the nature of this race, I'm sure attempts at bird riding happen all the time to impress. Although it's probably more a case of 'hang onto bird and hope it goes my way' than being able to control it.
Some of the more established colonies may even raise trained birds.
I'm not sure that your own wing formation wouldn't interfere horribly with the aerodynamics. You can't fold them out of the way, only close them, like butterflies. Fragile does seem a harsh thing for such Health light creatures, doesn't it. Butterflies are really quite tough, some of them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It is amazing how much justification you can fail to find when you are not looking for it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alicia Smith Have a look at Epping Forest. Also look at Victoria pack in Hackney which is probably on our way. you might also have a look at Hackney Wick and Waltham Forest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Also Hainault Forest just on the other side of Epping Forest had deer until it was condemned in 1851.

    ReplyDelete
  38. In the other direction near Wimbelton and Kew Gardens check out Old Deer Park at Richmond. And Richmond Park that replaced it in the 17th Century.
