Last night we went to see Kevin Quantum, the man who left his research post as physicist where he lived in Edinburgh to participate in the TV show Faking It. There the participants train intensely in a field about which they know nothing for a few weeks and then see if they can fool expert judges. Kevin did so, and decided he liked it so much he gave up the Ph.D work in forensics and pursued magic instead. (!) It was an entertaining performance. In the advertising they really accentuate the physics angle, and that's part of why I was interested in seeing the show, but the show we got last night didn't really stress it. It was, however, engaging and very funny. Even when you know you're being misdirected the trick still works, and he has ways of dealing with smart arse audience members. Recommended.

8/10 Engaging and wondering just where that elephant went on the Sid and Nancy Scale.
