The tiny Fringe Ferris Wheel is worth a ride.

The tiny Fringe Ferris Wheel is worth a ride. The last portable ferris wheel in Western Australia makes for a captivating view of the Cultural Centre and surrounds. A ten to fifteen minute ride with a fairly relaxed crew "Just let us know when you're ready to get off".

7 dollars.

8.5 out of 10 fun and the first time you tasted chocolate covered honeycomb on the Sid and Nancy Scale. #fringeworld   #fringeworld2016

We saw this highly amusing show last night.

We saw this highly amusing show last night. It's the first time I've ever seen a Mentalist in the flesh. Tim Motley plays the detective Dirk Darrow.  In the role of a 1930's detective noir comedy musical mentalist prestidigitator.  And there's not too many of them about. This show is all sold out so you will have to wait until next year for a stream of unending wit, mixed metaphors in a lightning stream of patter and single entendres and audience participation. Tim has great stage presence and isn't at all rattled when an audience member flubs a cue, he makes it part of the act with true professionalism. Great show last night.
"Now - the gentleman wearing the tablecloth - "
Audience laughs
"Be quiet! If a picnic should happen, he's prepared, and you're not."

8.5/10 Great fun and  Spencer for Hire jamming with They Might Be Giants on the Sid and Nancy Scale.

#fringeworld   #fringeworld2016

We saw a performance of this last night at the Bok Choy Theatre in the Noodle Palace. It's on the 2nd floor of Central Tafe. When approaching, if you have your ticket already you'll be directed up the scaffolding stairs to the third floor which is the rooftop series of bars.

There's a lift for access if requested.

Well Impromptunes don't need me plugging it, it's extraordinarily entertaining and it was a full house last night. The performers are energetic, enthused and very very capable.  The shouted suggestion from the audience was "Lights, Camera, Dead!" and launched us into the musical dramas besetting Andrew and Peter Parker - brothers, one an actor trying to save his career against the dastardly Justin Bieber. Murder, drugs, intrigue and the amazing Jimmy the Mad Snake of debatable nationality and amazing special efffects. Improv is challenging at the best of times but to improvise an entire musical with music (think Richard Vranch quality from the guy on keyboard) is just extraordinary. You'll go away sore from laughing and with earworms.  9/10 Highly Recommended and having your own theme music on the Sid and Nancy Scale.

Modiphius did such a nice job with their Thunderbirds kickstarter I thought I'd give them a little bit of a plug. I play the occasional wargame. I like tank battles mainly. For those of you who played with Airfix models back in the day, and to those that still enjoy them, this might be of interest. You can use your models, or the cardboard markers that come with the game.  I wasn't sure whether to put this in Hot Deals (I think it's a pretty good price) Kickstarter (it's not a Kickstarter) so I plumped for Wargames. I won't be offended if it gets moved though.

This is making me think of Memoir '44 but one of the differences is that your hand of cards cycles very quickly, apparently.

Although Fringe hasn't quite opened yet this exhibition is part of it. It is very interesting, with a very diverse mix of artifacts, and may really interest those with textile leanings. Although there's a lot more than cloth to look at.

The app is pretty nice and makes the exhibition a real treasure hunt, adding interest and fun with animations and quizzes. You can build a ship out of Lego for a gold coin donation in real life.

The spice trade really encouraged fusion of styles and art and culture, and there are some extraordinary examples of it.

9/10 Intrigued and a whirlwind tour of the lands of Prestor John on the Side and Nancy scale.

Taken this morning. I've been to many of these places. This is happening 100 km south of us. No deaths but people aren't safe where they are, and it's not safe to evacuate. One town has been virtually wiped out already. :-/

Heads up for people.

Heads up for people. We are returning to gaming as normal on the 22nd as long as Ros is cool with it, after the funeral on the 12th, and the paperwork and emotional turmoil that naturally ensues.

Fringe season approaches which will see Rob and I missing a couple of Friday nights.  We're seeing shows on the 29th of January and the 5th of February, so no gaming on those nights.

Thank you to everyone who attended - for however long you were able to stay! We appreciate the effort - especially  Andrew Muhling and Jocelyn Kuan who sailed down from South of Perth Yacht Club through shoals and showerless wastes. Thank you to the crew who helped with the running of the ship and kitchen duty.  Last of all, thank you to Rob Masters for his captaining of The Murray River Queen which meant that we all had such a wonderful start to the year.

Watch the movies!
