Well, we had our first game of Winter Tales last night.
Well, we had our first game of Winter Tales last night. Definitely not a game for everybody: very much recommend adding the modules if you are playing with Gamer gamers. But if you are playing with children stick with the base game at first. It's a very different game but the players were all experienced rpgers so boldly got into it. We felt our way along cautiously, uncertain of the flow. But then the story seemed to start flowing. Would Alice get to the Cemetery to hear the Song of the Frozen Robin - no, but the Little Match Girl would hear it for her and amplify it to Alice, stuck in the Mad Hatter's Asylum, and brought hope to all who heard it. Despite this early victory, Spring's hopes failed as Snow White, after an epic hunt and struggle with Traps being sprung and Battles galore, finally stole the Tin Woodsman's heart from his reluctant chest and brought Winter down on Wintertown for good. We played with four players, and everyone really got into it. Big thumbs up for me. But play it with people who care about Story, if not, I advise using the modules. The Story is the thing...
