I had the opportunity to have a couple of games of this quick little "take that!" card game, using the prototype. At time of writing this review the game has 19 days to go on its Kickstarter, so there were still some tweaks being made.

The game is easy to learn and plays quickly. It'll come with cards, cownters and energy counters.

It'll also come with puns. Lots of puns. Chock full of puns and humorous situations our group burst into laughter throughout the games.

Lloyd Miller, the game designer and artist comes from a design background and that very much comes across in his distinctive styling of the card designs. If you like retrofuturistic vision, have a look!

So, you are a devious alien, and for Reasons Of Your Own, need to obtain cows from Earth. Your aim is to have the most cows at the end of the game - which finishes when the deck runs out or when someone has got to 10 cows. It's not a game that outstays its welcome and compares favourably to Munchkin and Fluxx in this fashion!

Cards are divided into 4 types allowing you to attack, shield or steal cows, or do funky stuff. Attacking, shielding and stealing requires energy, and the better the card, the more energy is required. Funky stuff (or as Lloyd calls it Utility Cards) don't have an energy requirement.

You have a steady income of energy through the game, but that trickle of 1 per turn is supplemented by good fortune from the cards.

Solid little filler for some relaxing fun between heavier fare.

8/10 Lighthearted fun and winning a costume competition for your Nethack cosplay on the Sid and Nancy Scale. (true story)

Happy International Tabletop Day everyone! Hope you get something to the table and have fun!

Happy International Tabletop Day everyone! Hope you get something to the table and have fun!

My dance card for today is rather full! The Western Australian Boardgaming Assoc is meeting in Thornlie today and it's all abuzz!

My dance card is looking full!
First up the playtest of Abducted Cow from a local game designer, Lloyd Miller.
Then some fun with Munchkin Shakespeare!
After that let's rev up with the big Pitchcar tournament
Then will come World of YoHo and Dinosaur Island
And somewhere in all of that I might be learning Lords of Waterdeep and teaching Carcassonne South Seas. Phew!

Are you doing any board gaming today? What's on your dance card?

I'm rather amused by this little offering. I like to support local designers (Perth seems to have a fair share!) so I'm going to be backing this one. A 20-30 minute filler is a nice touch, and I find the artwork and puns appealing. The designer is coming to my club's International Table Top Day so I'll get to try it out there on Saturday.

As a rabid bibliophile this really appeals to me.

As a rabid bibliophile this really appeals to me. I kind of wish that they'd gone with the Library of Alexandria theme but it still looks very pretty. 6 players is a bit of a bonus for our group.

Us Australians are so hard core we build playgrounds out of dead whales and let our kids play in them.

This is a cool playground. The digestive swing is fun for everyone!
