This is a cute one, and they're shipping to the U.S by December so if you're stuck for some geeky bling for you and yours - this is in the last couple of days of the campaign. Anodised aluminium always looks so cool, and I think they're the only people who do it.

So I have a friend who plusses stuff I don't want to see which makes it pop up in my stream. I don't want to unfriend the friend, but whenever they plus stuff I am not at all interested in seeing, into my stream it goes. Is this a setting I'm missing?

Air-conditioning (thank the gods)
Swimming Pool (and its awesome)
Spa
Gym (for the healthy folk gives all attendees side-long look – especially Rob and Leece)

Also, we tend to find the Vines a really nice venue for relaxing away from home.

Friday December 29 from 4pm to 4pm Monday January 1.
Accommodation
Accommodation per person will cost: $220 for the weekend.
Are you interested in staying at the Vines? Please let us know by the end of November so that we can book the accommodation for you as part of our package. This also advises us about whether we are booking one 6/8 person villa or more. If we have enough people, we can book two adjoining villas.
Rules for this con are that if you are not staying the night, please bring food to share. We will have full kitchen facilities.
Gaming
Yes please. The theme of this con is Travelling, Island adventures, Hotels and Vikings – why Vikings you ask? No reason, I just like the idea of it. Plus Mark has this great game and I would like to play it again. So yes, selfish, selfish reasons.
Inviting more folk
Please on-send to your fav people and our regulars 😊
Cheers

Australian Bird of the Year 2017
Birdie McBirdFace will not be considered!
The Guardian is running the Australian bird of the year for 2017 poll in partnership with BirdLife Australia.
The finalists were narrowed down based on recommendations from Guardian readers, Guardian staff and BirdLife Australia. Now they are calling on the public to select their favourite from the list.
The poll will stay open until 9 December, after which the winner will be announced. If you feel the best Australian bird has been ignored, an option for you to add it yourself exists.
If a write-in campaign is waged, a bird not on the shortlist could win. Birdy McBirdface will not be considered.

The year is ending.
The year is ending. We only have to survive Christmas and the New Year, and then before you know it, Fringe will be on us again in February. Rooftop movies, Northbridge going crazy and who knows what else?
If you plan to be a Fringe dweller have a look at the Fringe Friends deal, it does seem very good.
Enjoy your Fringe! #fringeworld #fringeworld2018

I don't know what to think of the new Iron Dragon.
I don't know what to think of the new Iron Dragon.
Of the scribblies it was always my favourite. Only played it 2 or 3 times though, and my memories of actual play are dim.
I always kind of wanted it, the only scribbly that had that effect on me.
I'm not sure I like the new box art - it seems kind of muddy. A gentleman over at boardgamegeek has helpfully posted side by side photographic comparisons of the two editions.
I've recently got glasses, not much correction though. There's concerns in the forums that the new edition is less kind to deteriorating eyesight. Which is a bit silly as it had a big fan base all of whom now may be suffering deterioration of vision.
Iron Dragon came out before Ticket to Ride and its myriade variants. Will my patience for the scribbly form of game have been destroyed by the quicker Euros I've been playing for decades now?
Is it World in Flames vs Memoir '44?
What do you think?
Oh, and here's a link to an article from Game Trade Magazine.
Also will treatises appear on exactly how best to Dragon your Train?
