Hunt for the Wildepeople.

Hunt for the Wildepeople.

Well, that was fun. If you liked Whale Rider, Footrot Flats, and Lord of the Rings scenery. If you've ever lived in a country town. Or dealt with the department of child services. If you would like to have the cast list well and truly on the non-Caucasian side. A very humorous romp with the odd uncanny note that NZ films tend to ring then I think you'd enjoy this.

9/10 Majestical and surfing with the Whale Rider on the Sid and Nancy Scale.

  2. My pleasure! Nice to meet someone else familiar with Sid and Nancy. If you'd like more of my reviews, all with their Sid and Nancy ratings have a look at +Australian Theatre and Live Performance Reviews too. Most reviews there are mine but I welcome others hint hint.

  3. Trying to remember where that scale was used. I'm sure it was newsgroups back in late 80's/early 90's? rec.arts.movies? But that doesn't ring true as I'm sure the chatter was Aus only... Help, I'm going senile :-)

  4. Yep, Paul-Michael Agapow  on rec.arts.sf and the various sub-groups after The Great RASF Reorg.

Only not. PMA is just who Alicia Smith heard it from, and I stole it from her. After some combined link hunting, Leece's memory, and a bit of help from archive.org we get to...

The real origin, as best as can be remembered can be found on the wayback machine at
http://web.archive.org/web/20010216184712/http://postviews.editthispage.com/faq and states that Friendless Farrell claims to have stolen the current form from one Patricia O'Tuama.

Anyone know who she is, so we can ask?

This may or may not be the same person, but the quote is awesome - http://www.cognitivedistortion.com/index.php?cd=quotes&aid=9334

  5. Lol. Many thanks guys. I read through a few of Paul-Michael Agapow's yesterday. Definitely where I came across the Sid and Nancy Scale. Looks like IMDB have borrowed a few of his reviews as well (with attribution, so presumably OK)
