Craig & Karen are still in Perth, and have no objection to being joined in their hotel room in Perth for boardgames on Friday night.
If you'd like to catch up with them on Friday night join us - they're at the Mantra in Murray Street in Perth.
Rob and I are thinking of having dinner at the Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant beforehand, but we might change our minds and go elsewhere...
We'll go to dinner in Perth once Rob gets there from work, and then go to the Mantra after that, 6:30-7ish.
Leece is a Western Australian artist living in Perth, on Whadjuk Nyoongar boodjar. She likes drawing animals and is interested in sf&f, nature and kayaking, Me-Moving and reading and lots of other stuff!

We went on a fun ride on this little solar ferry yesterday. She does the return trip from Elizabeth Quay to Claisebrook for $18. The interior is very nice and the trip is lovely and quiet.

Well it's been a great day - alas the last one for Swancon 2016.
Well it's been a great day - alas the last one for Swancon 2016. We've spent most of it gaming and chatting. We played a virtual reality game called "Keep Talking and No one explodes" which I found particularly devious and a real team builder! Wombat Rescue got two plays, 4 player and 5 player.

And then it was time for the closing ceremony which we actually went to - we usually don't go so we can consider that the convention never ends.
We went because of the Mikey awards - Terry, Bronny and Jen were nominated. Terry was awarded it and well deserved too.
And now for a leisurely wind down, and the excitement building of another convention which looks like it is well in hand!

So after our game in which there was an unusual amount of exploration embarked on - all those empty caverns - we had a browsing dinner at the Pacific Club (free!) and then prepared for the Runequest 7 playtest.
This was very interesting. There are apparently many ways to generate a character and we went through one of them. Michael the Vice President of Chaosium is an excellent GM and took us through very nicely.
He's been put on far too many panels, poor thing, I hope he's not put off from the con experience!
My shield maiden of Barbeastacor went into a axe trance and promptly fell into the river and nearly drowned. And then she got in the way of a sun sword and was a crisp. A kind healer brought her back though.

Today's been very interesting.
Today's been very interesting. Rob Masters might be good enough to share some photos from today - This morning, well yesterday morning really now, we were involved in the Credo playtesting for Chaosium. We had a fun game with Michael O'Brien the vice president of Chaosium talking us through, and discussing how it can be improved and what bits are working. We all had a fun game, and while I was not really ever a huge voting force, I like to think I had an influence. We ended up with a tritheist bunch of sun worshippers being written into the Bible, Mark got in first, and I a respectable second.
After that we adjourned to have some lunch - just a tin of fish and corn in our room, then walked down Barrack Street/Wellington Street to grab me some elf ears and Rob some accessories for the Masquerade.
We got back in good time for Jane Espenson's GoH speech. Played Ticket to Ride Netherlands after that, which is an evil, evil variant and I like it! At least this first game.
Then we browsed the nibblies at the Pacific Club (they got us some gf chicken skewers as a supplement to the veggies and dip that were alright for us, and then we got ready for the Masquerade.
I think they wanted to move us on through because they played music throughout the catwalk, too bad for anyone who had a verbal component to their costume.
It was a pretty good space for dancing and mingling. The chinese lantern were a nice touch.
After the masquerade, we played TTR Europe with Alex, Karl and Paul, and then Rob played World of YoHo with Elaine, Paul and Karl.
Tomorrow we will be playtesting Chaosium's new Runequest.
I hear that a room party got shut down tonight for being too noisy, but the one last night was noisier and didn't get shut down. Go figure.

Mum came to take delivery of her Baubax travel jacket she'd dropped off to us earlier. I went off with her to have coffee and then rejoined Rob for the panel where each person had 3 minutes to spruik their geeky event.
I consider myself reasonably well informed about things, even though I'm not on Facebook, but I learned of many things. I'm sure Rob Masters will kindly post his photos of the whiteboard listing them for me soon.
After that we decided to go for dinner - we walked up to the Balti, and found ourselves joined by more than 10 other people. We had a very nice dinner, and found we'd forgotten our wallets, oops, but John Samuel kindly for us until we got back to monies. Thanks John! Rob did eventually give it to you, right?
Rob has gone off to play with virtual reality, I'm in our room typing this as I've been struggling with a bad headache, but I'm ready to start gaming with John and Rob and Paul as everyone is keen to get Above and Below back onto the table after Rob and Paul finish with virtual reality.

To continue thoughts on Does Art Make the Game, well the discussion varied - but it does seem clear that the art, the layout and graphic artist roles have all got to be controlled in sympathy with each other.
The convention is running well. The yellow tape directing traffic flow on the ground is a great idea, and the Meeple Angels have been good at getting people playing.
The rooms close up at midnight, but I don't think I'd be going much beyond that.
They have taken on my idea from last year with the gaming bingo, with some changes, which is lovely. Some difficult categories to fill though!
Friday's events for us look like definitely Collaborative Storytelling Games at 10am, as we're on the panel.
Write a campaign in an hour at 12 might prove amusing.
I like the Group/Con/Event so much could be of interest and we might spruik our games club for 3 minutes at 1700.
Rob might go off to VR with the HTC VIve but I might give that a miss and go to 50 Years Ago -1966.
Dinner was very nice, but the gluten free options have reduced compared to last year. It also took quite a while to come. I won't be depending on Monterey's to feed us quickly. The buffet options for dinner were quite limited, so we couldn't speed things up that way.
The mixed tray of desserts was nice, and the risotta was delicious when it arrived.

Well, we attended the opening ceremony, which went off very well, and then we had dinner which won out over the ZZZZzenith panel. Our dinner was a bit tardy coming so we missed the first part of the Art and Boardgames panel, but the rest of it was very good. And, now, for Pictomania!

Wandered back via the new library in company with John Samuel and have registered painlessly, things are running well due to the diligent committee. Have settled down to a nice game of Cacao with Mark, Rob Masters , John Samuel who at the moment have gone down to the foyer to ferry in Elaine Walker 's boxes of games.
And they're back!
And they're back!
