Oh, by the way, meant to say before - but Pamela Smith bought us a packet of the new Gluten Free (not)Wheat Bix, and goodness, me, they're very nice and very, very reminiscent of the original. I hope that they stay available. Sanitarium did a good job and coeliacs missing Wheatbix everywhere should give them a try. #coeliac #celiac #glutenfree Thanks very much Pamela Smith

Apparently they have a facebook page but you'll have to find someone else to go in there to check on things with them.

Feel free to pass my number (0401283924) or this email on to anyone if they have any questions."
If Connor, and of course, any other of your kids could make it to any of the WABA events (with 4 of them a month it might be possible!) that would be fantastic. WABA Thornlie has a very good following and it meets on the 4th Saturday of the month, from 1-11pm.
WABA Mt Claremont is the one I go to regularly, there can be up to 60 people going, and it meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, from 1-10pm.
Except for the December meeting at Mt Claremont which goes from about 9am generally until late, and is a fantastic event with LOTS of prizes and tournaments and buzz. If it's possible for you to make that event I would try for it because it's just the most splendid time.
There's also other kids playing at both Mt Claremont and Thornlie. PAGS too.
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/view/308 for more information or if you have questions for the parents that attend.
I don't think I need find you links on the benefits of boardgames for kids (and grownups) but I can if you like. :-)

Preliminary shot of yesterday's made up dinner, just after adding the blowtorched mutton cubes and stirring. The ButterJap pumpkin is interesting, it's a very dense fine grained pumpkin with almost no stringyness and a very deep orange, you can see it here. Quite a different mouth feel, like a dense carrot. http://leecetheartist.dreamwidth.org/310509.html#cutid1 for more on this dish. As it became evening, I added some water and some gf alphabet noodles. The lemons I removed earlier as it was getting quite bitter from the pith - handy hint, gradually add salt until the bitterness recedes. Pith bitterness can vary from lemon to lemon and season to season, so sometimes I don't need to add any salt at all. (which is my preference) At the end of the day it turned out delicious!

Five Decades of Overfishing
Between 1950 and 2014 the #ocean has seen a lot of changes. For example, Pacific Bluefin #Tuna, #sharks, and North Atlantic Cod were all almost fished to extinction. Only between 5% and 10% remain.
This #infographic #gif is from the Mission Blue documentary on the life and work of ocean legend Sylvia A. Earle.

The designer had a one-of-a-kind copy at Gen Con he showed me, and I keep insisting people would buy it if he made more. Would you?

I'm hoping to get this onto the table tonight at my club's boardgame cafe meeting. Any tips and tricks very welcome - it will be our first play. It is certainly a lovely looking little game.

HEIMSKRINGLA Volume 1
by Snorri Sturluson, translated by Samuel Laing
norsemyth.org/p/books.html
If you haven't read Snorri's Heimskringla (especially the first section, Ynglinga Saga), you're skipping one of the main sources for what we know of Norse Mythology. This edition is quite old (1844), but it's free!
If you want to jump straight to the mythic material, start with Ynglinga Saga on page 216. The lengthy introduction by Laing is of interest only if you want a snapshot of mid-19th century scholarly ideas of history, literature & culture.
Visit The Norse Mythology Online Library to download the book or read it online: norsemyth.org/p/books.html

While I'm waiting for Season 8 of Snapshot Serengeti to start, I'm having a look at this citizen science project from zooniverse - http://www.operationwardiary.org as well as the plankton and sea floor one. Judging on just the tutorial, it's going to have profound and far reaching implications on peoples' analysis of war history.
