Joe Vallee Just a big thank you to you for all your hard and, no doubt at times finnicky and frustrating work with the Google Plus Anniversary Photowalk and its associated competition. It's been really fun and thank you so much for helping those who needed a little technical assistance getting their photos into a suitable shape for the comp. Now it's all up to the judges!

Thank you for this timely comment....
ReplyDeleteI just got done answering someone who was bitching about it being "*time consuming, frustrating, and extremely non-user-friendly*". To which I reminded him a few things that it was all done by just one person (me) and I'm not a Google employee (or getting paid) and I threw together this Photo Contest in the last 10 days prior to the walk and got sponsors (by myself) worth thousands of dollars as a Bonus to an already great world wide walk. (which I created the page and had it up in running shortly after Thomas Hawk mentioned that it would be a great idea)
BTW... I'll have probably over 400 hours put into this when all is said and done, so for him to bitch about a little extra effort just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. ;o)
So again thank you for the timely comment.

Well, myself and Rob Masters from the Perth photowalk are extremely appreciative of all your help and that this genius brainchild of yours is happening. We didn't find it time consuming or non-user friendly at all, and the couple of issues we were having you were able to fix for us very quickly. Astonishing, considering we're on the other side of the world, in a very different timezone. So thank you once more, and we are very hyped about it. Big bouquets and hugs from us Down Under, and sorry about unappreciative people who would probably never volunteer for anything themselves!
ReplyDeleteThank you, he was definitely the exception to the rule believe me.
ReplyDeleteSome people just like being miserable I guess.... ;-)
What spurred me to make my post was that I was thinking of the technical difficulties myself and Rob were having, and how you sorted them very quickly. And then I thought, geez, poor Joe, he's just one guy, and the entries are flooding in, and we can't be the only ones who are having trouble...better let him know his work is deeply appreciated! I'm glad it came at the right time. I hope that everything is smoothing out and that you can relax a bit now, and actually ENJOY the photos now. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still going pretty much non-stop with all the last minute details and getting the photos ready for the Judges and setting up guidelines, verifying the photos were took in the correct time, editing more cations on the additional photos.
ReplyDeleteFor a little over 5 more hours still. ;o)
I'm going to try and take a look at my photos I shot on my Anniversary walk here now also and see if I had anything worthwhile editing and entering... yes I haven't had time to even go through my photos yet ;-P
(looking over at my emails, they're down to 10 at the moment which is incredible since they've been over 500 each day for a couple of weeks now and were in the thousands in total)
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though! ;o)
Oh dear! You will get there!
